Brief
On the 176th anniversary of the Dominican Republic’s independence, a celebration of Dominican heritage, community and independence graced the Capitol’s Rotunda.
Attendees waved Dominican flags, sporting the flag’s colors in their festive wardrobe and danced in recognition of the day.
Among the attendees were state Reps. Peter Schweyer, D-Lehigh, and Tarah Toohil, R-Luzerne, who both tested their Spanish language skills at the event.
A festive Dominican dance commemorated the occasion with chants of “Viva la Republica Dominicana!”
