Pa. Health Dept.: More than 5.7K new COVID-19 cases; More than 3.7K hospitalized

The Pennsylvania Department of Health has confirmed 5,766 new cases of COVID-19 as of 11:59 p.m. Monday, bringing the statewide total to 1,736,920 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.

As of Tuesday, 3,876 people were hospitalized due to COVID-19. Of those patients, 873 were in intensive care units and 498 are using a ventilator, according to state health department data.

The department also confirmed 113 new deaths attributed to COVID-19 as of Monday, bringing the statewide total to 33,421 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

The statewide positivity rate is 12.1 percent, and 69.2 percent of Pennsylvanians 18 or older were fully vaccinated, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
