LEBANON, Pa. — This central Pennsylvania city, about 30 minutes east of Harrisburg, doesn’t have its own professional baseball team.

But for one weekend, this July 1-3, the Lancaster Barnstormers, of the independent Atlantic League, will call the city home. And they’re looking for residents’ help in renaming the club for that brief tour.

“It’s never been done before so we thought we’d do it” the team’s president and general manager, Mike Reynolds, said Tuesday, as the Barnstormers announced a partnership with the Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce.

“The Lebanon County Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to partner with the Lancaster Barnstormers on this cross-county event” chamber President Karen Groh said in a statement.

Those who would like to participate and contribute a potential name of the Lancaster Barnstormers are invited to go to the team’s website and submit their idea.

Community members are invited from now until March 15 to make their suggestions, with the winner announced on April 15,  the team said in a statement. Winners get free tickets to one of the games and a $100 gift card from the Lancaster Barnstormers to spend on the team’s merchandise.

The collaboration has been developing as part of the many businesses who operate in both counties and this event is a way to show the collaboration between the counties through one unique event. The team will be wearing unique uniforms during that weekend that will highlight the selected name in honor of Lebanon County.
