Grace Church, at 216 State Street in Harrisburg, is hosting a support group for parents, siblings, and friends of transgender individuals.
The group’s first meeting is scheduled for Mon., Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. in the church’s Guild Room.
As the parent of a transgender son, Angela (The Central Voice withheld her last name upon request) said there “is a real need for the group. When my son started his journey, one of the hardest things for me was not having anyone that really understood what I was going through.”
Angela added she had and still has “a wonderful support system, but I always felt like it would be nice to have someone that was going through the same emotions that not only I was experiencing but my son as well to connect with.”
“I can’t tell you how happy I was when I received the email” on the group forming.
